Thank you Ullswater 'Steamers'!
Fix the Fells maintains 26 kilometres of upland paths around the shoreline of Ullswater and this is made a lot easier thanks to Ullswater 'Steamers' allowing us free passage on their steamers.
Earlier in July, 18 volunteers and one of our Fix the Fells rangers headed across on one of the boats and then split into three groups to cover 26 kilometres of path. The routes included Place Fell and returning via Boredale Hause.
Tanya Oliver, Fix the Fells Programme Manager, said "Using the boats saves us a lot of time during the day and the cost of the fuel for so may people travelling around to the opposite side of the lake. It also helps makes the day a lot more enjoyable for our hard working volunteers. Volunteering should be about having a good time as well as getting the job done so this makes it a really great day. Our thanks go to Ullswater 'Steamers' for letting us travel for free".
Ullswater 'Steamers' also raise money for Fix the Fells, which helps maintain the upland paths around Ullswater.
