Come and join the Wasdale Fell Care Day
Fix the Fells are teaming up with Friends of the Lake District for the Wasdale Fell Care Day on Saturday 4th July and we are looking for volunteers to join us!
Fell Care Days are an opportunity to get involved in a whole range of conservation activities including path repair and maintenance. We have worked with Friends for several years on these events but the Wasdale one looks set to be one of the best yet, set in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK.
Our experienced Fix the Fells rangers and volunteers will be joining the day but we also want new volunteers to join us and get involved in protecting and repairing the path network. You can get involved in drain runs, where we will be taking shovels and brushes up some of the most iconic mountains in the Lake District including Scafell Pike and Great Gable to clear path drains and sweep loose stones from the stone-pitching.
If you don't fancy being on the move all day then you can join the work party on Lingmell where we will be repairing a short piece of path on one of the main routes to the summit.
Both these tasks are strenuous but both are vital to help protect our spectacular landscape and are great fun to get involved in.
If you want to get involved in other tasks, there is litter-picking, woodland activities, bridge-building, rhododendron bashing or helping with the organisation of the day.
Of course there are always a lot of home-baked cakes available for during the day and at the end to keep motivation high!
